Nightly routine

I’ve seen so many other bloggers post their morning and nightly routines so I thought it would be fun to post my own. I’ll be posting my nightly routine today and my morning routine on Friday.

Now I feel like I should add a disclaimer that I am definitely no skincare expert. I’ve just done a lot of research and I’ve asked the advice of people who have more skincare knowledge than me. The first step to taking good care of your skin is knowing what kind of skin you have. My skin is combination (oily and dry) and it can be sensitive.

Anyways on to my nightly routine:

I wear contact lenses so the first thing I do every night is taking out my contact lenses and put them in their case.

Next I always take off my makeup. I take my makeup off every night because I absolutely hate falling asleep with my makeup on! To take my makeup off I use Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water for sensitive and combination skin and some cotton pads.

I honestly cannot recommend this product enough. It is just so good! I can take off a lot of makeup with very little product. It feels really light and leaves my skin feeling clean, smooth and hydrated. Even on days that I’m not wearing makeup I will still use this just to remove any dirt from my face.

The next thing I do is use The Body Shop’s Aloe Gentle Facial Wash.

2Aloe vera wash edited

I love this face wash because it’s very mild but it still cleans my face well and doesn’t dry out my skin. I started using this face wash about a year ago (at the recommendation of my friend) and before that I didn’t really do much to my face to clean it other than take my makeup off. Ever since using this face wash my skin has looked so much better. It’s much clearer and I don’t break out as often. Unfortunately at the moment they are sold out at my local Body Shop so I’ve switched to Nivea Cleansing Mousse for sensitive skin, which is also good but I definitely miss my aloe facial wash.

Next I brush my teeth with my trusty Oral B electric toothbrush.

Then I floss and use mouthwash. My mouthwash just comes from my local supermarket but it does the job.

Twice a week I exfoliate with Nivea’s Pure Effect Clean Deeper Cleansing Scrub.

Face scrub edited

I like this scrub because it’s not too harsh but still feels like it’s exfoliating my face well. I don’t exfoliate my face more than twice a week because exfoliating too often can be harmful to your skin. Also only exfoliating twice a week works well for me. If you like to exfoliate more often then feel free to do that, but then I suggest you use a very mild scrub. On the days that I exfoliate I also use a face mask. I use Freeman’s Feeling Beautiful Avocado and Oatmeal clay mask for normal/combination skin.

Face mask edited

I like this face mask because it’s affordable and my skin always feels great afterwards. It feels great when I put it on and smells nice too. I try to never put it too close to my eyes because otherwise they start to feel a little irritated.

One of the final things I do every night is put hazelnut oil on my face.

I put this on under my night cream because it has plenty of vitamins and minerals. It hydrates my face and keeps it feeling smooth.

The night cream I use is Nivea’s Daily Essentials Sensitive Night Cream. I have been using this night cream for a while and I have no complaints. It keeps my skin well hydrated and I love it!

Well that’s the end of my nightly routine. After all that I put my pyjamas on and go to bed!

I hope my nightly routine is interesting and maybe even helpful. Let me know if you have any tips for me of any questions about my routine.

Everything I use is bought at the drugstore except for the hazelnut oil, which comes from a health shop, the mouthwash, which is from the supermarket, and the facial wash which is obviously from The Body shop.

Until next time! xx
